SALT Conference 2013

Today the SALT conference starts in Las Vegas.  Continuing through the end of the week, the hedge fund industry will be descending upon the Bellagio for scheduled speakers, general information sessions and, of course, networking.  This year featured speakers include Nicolas Sarkozy, John Paulson and Coach K; other speakers include major players in the industry including my friend and law school classmate Omeed Malik who is head of the Emerging Manager Program at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

For more information on the conference, see their website here.

SALT Conference 2012

Hedge Fund Conference Starts Tuesday

Today marks the kick-off to the Las Vegas SALT Conference hosted by Skybridge Capital. The event is perhaps the largest event in the United States for the hedge fund industry and will bring together the following speakers for a number

of discussions and panels:

  • Political figures – Robert M. Gates, Al Gore, Sarah Palin, Robert Gibbs, Karl Rove
  • Academics – Nouriel Roubini, Jeremy Sigel
  • Authors – Jim Collins, Ben Mezrich, Hannah Grove
  • Media – Kate Kelly, Gary Kaminsky, Maneet Ahuja
  • Fund Managers

In addition to the planned events, there are many opportunities for those in the industry to meet and network. We were in Las Vegas last year and happened to catch some of the events and you can find our previous thoughts here.

We anticipate that this event will be even better than in past years and look forward to seeing people at the Bellagio.

SALT Conference 2011

Hedge Fund Conference Judged a Success

I had the opportunity to make it to one day of the SALT conference in Las Vegas this week.  As I talked to managers, investors and service

providers, it became clear that the attendees were excited about the speakers, the panels and the networking opportunities.  For the most part, it seemed to me that most people were at the conference for the following reasons:

  • to hear what is going on in areas outside of their expertise
  • promotion – many service providers were there
  • to have in-person meetings with investors
  • to have in-person meetings with managers
  • general networking

I found it to be a great opportunity to have conversations and meetings with fellow service providers as well as potential clients and I certainly look forward to going back next year.
